What does THIS button do?
Wondering what people are doing out there... I usually play with my shoes on untill just recently I'm trying to learn some actual technique to double-bass instead of the ole' 1-2 RL thing. I started playing barefoot and I noticed it's 50 times easier and I feel less fatigue from it. What do you guys do?

Mostly often play with just my socks...but sometimes I play barefoot.
Other times I play in my underwear, but sometimes I play bare ass on my bicycle seat drum stool.

Not that it matters, but I like to wear my "professional track runner" shoes. They're really tight, but conform to my feet. I like the feeling; lots of control and still protects my feet.

$.25

who else said peg leg??? i really am bipedal amputee...

i play in my classic black chucks. theyre flat as hell, and you can lace em up tight. its just like playing barefooted. we play some pretty seedy places, and theres no way im going onstage in my socks or barefooted. man, it would be pretty nasty to step in some unidentified liquid in my socks or barefeet.

...

Barefoot, no doubt. Unless it's not an option, then I'll use Adidas indoor soccer shoes, one size smaller than I normally wear.

When i used to play alot i liked to switch to lowtop (new balance) gymshoes so that my heel was "free". It helped and made a noticeable difference from high tops as i tend to play mostly heel up.

:)

I use these Asics wrestling shoes.
Lightweight, very flexible, and have good grip. I don't like socks because the socks slide on the footboard too much.

I use whatever's on my feet. I prefer shoes for traction. I'd say its better to try everything since it'll make you a better drummer. A kid I used to jam with would play with heavy fucking black boots and rocked the shit out of my set. So in essence it shouldnt' really matter... If your good, your good.

It depends. Sometimes barefoot, sometimes with socks, sometimes with sneakers.

So after discovering this new found glory of bare-footedness, I'm starting to get blisters. It's freaking br00tal.

Get thicker socks... or a smoother pedal....

I wear my reebok running shoes, they are light weight, but seem to give me good arch support which allows my foot to pivot easier on my ankle for some reason I use to wear my vans then I went bare foot, now back to shoes.

wait, so we are NOT supposed to play with clogs?
hehehe jk

i thought barefeet was the way to go....
more grip and total control
ill try some running shoes maybe... (doubt i own a pair) hehehehe

i always liked shoes better so i could use the slide method on the bass drum pedal....with socks i'd probably wear down my socks in 5 mins haha.

Playing shoes

I've found that best shoes to wear during play are High-Top Chuck Taylors. The thin, flat sole makes feeling the footboard a real plus!

Actually, I tried my Birkenstock clogs this morning and absolutely loved them. The firm sole and comfy cork bed really worked for me on the kick pedal. Probably not for everyone, but I'm gonna keep using them.
