Shockmount for v67 - Which is of higher quality?

I read a post earlier where someone was using the shockmount for an Oktava 319 with the MXL v67. What I'm wondering...Is the Oktava shockmount of better quality than the MXL57? I have heard the Marshall mount has a tendency to peel on the inside (the felt comes loose). Maybe it's really not much of a problem, but since both mounts are the same price at MF, I thought I'd ask.

Any experiences or suggestions?

That was probably me. When I first saw a picture of the V67 on the internet I thought the shockmount looked exactly like the one with my Oktava 319. After I bought the V67 a Sam Ash I got it home a tried it in my shockmount, it fits perfectly. I went to Guitar Center and bought the Oktava mount for $29 for the MXL.

Let me start by saying I think both the Oktava and the Marshall shockmounts are made by the same company, they really do like identical. Construction on these is rock solid. As far as the felt on the inside I think if you push the mic into the sleeve your going to have problems with the felt. I put the shockmount in my lap set the the mic into the sleeve and then pull the 2 wire spreaders apart and the mic slides easily into the sleeve for a nice tight fit. The felt on mine will last years. The elastic bands on the other hand will probably wear out (stretch) in a few years, but I ordered a dozen extras through Guitar Center ($1.00ea.). I really believe they will wear out with any shockmount that uses elastic to isolate the mic and the ones that use rubber bands are going to have problems almost from the start.

Most shock mounts don't seem all that well made to me. I seriously considered trying to make one out of chicken wire and rubber bands once. I really don't think it matters which one you get, so I'd just go with the best price. I think some EV shock mounts look like they could fit a Marshall too. Oh, and the felt pads on my MXL-57 started to peel out of the box. I super-glued them back and haven't had any more problems but the mic stays in the shock mount full time and hasn't left the house yet.

BTW, if your pads start to peel and you try to glue them back, it's a lot better to place the mic into the mount as soon as you glue the pads in so the pressure of the mic up against the pads will work like a vice and make the pads stick really well.
