setup mixer

I have this dj mixer I got for free behringer vmx 100, I was wondering if it would be usefull for anything. And the proper way to hook it up? would I go directly into soundcard? Or rca's from the pre?
I dont think it would do much besides fade in/out.
But im not sure. I dont want it to add extra noise.

If you're looking for quality keep it out of the recording signal path.

You might use it as a volume control and input selector for your montors.
