Hi guys, i have a focusrite saffire pro 24 and it has 2 xlr inputs. Problem is the left xlr input is seen as the left channel and the right is seen as the right channel. I want to have the left seen as the left and right and also the same for the right. i can't be recording into two mics at same just to achieve a stereo recording.

I would like to have the right set as "saffire audio 1" too.

HUH???

Left should be left and right should be right...why is that a problem?

Why do you ant the right to be the same audio input as the left?
How do you mean you can't be using two mic for stereo? One mic won't work.

What are you saying exactly...???
Please explain it better.

i can't be recording into two mics at same just to achieve a stereo recording.

A stereo recording is made up of 2 channels, left and right. That means there needs to be 2 sources, left and right.

One mic is a single source. Single source=mono.

If you want to record one mic and have it come out of both speakers, record it in mono and pan it centre.

The 2 inputs on your saffire do not denote left and right in the stereo field. They are 2 single mono inputs that will record a mono track each, or 1 half of a stereo track, which is no different to 2 mono tracks. And when you take 2 mono tracks and pan them differently, you get stereo. A single mono source is still mono even if you record it to a stereo track..

Basically, you need to go into your VST connections there in Cubase, create a 'mono in' bus, and assign one of the inputs on your saffire to it.

What legion said.

So just right click by the little red speaker and delete that bus. Then click "add bus" select mono and and 2. It should create two mono inputs. Then in the column that says device port select "Saffire Audio 1" in one and "Saffire Audio 2" in the other.

Or, just ignore all that and when you create a new audio track just make sure it's mono and select either the left or right channel of the "Stereo In" bus.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Also, why are you using ASIO4ALL?? the Saffire should have its own ASIO driver. Better to use that.

I hate to break this to you, but the only way to get a stereo recording is to use 2 mics. If you think that by recording a single mic into both L and R inputs will somehow magically give you a stereo recording, then you don't understand what stereo is.

You didn't break it to him. He was told this 6 hours ago. :p

lmao tru tru. I also have a Tascam US-100 and it records stereo. This is what it looks like and i am using the same mic.

Only one mic is connected and still the left and right channel is coming from the same input.

Yes. I have recorded stereo tracks with my Tascam Us-100. i did it once with the focusrite but all of a sudden it reverted back to its mono ways. I just want to know how to record a stereo track with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24.

Damn ..... Then these are not the driods that you are looking for.

ok i have no idea if your an alien but i rather you do NOT reply me because i do NOT speak your language. i never said anything about looking for a droid thank you very much :spank:

If you only have one mic, it CANNOT be stereo. It can only be MONO. You need to record it to a Mono track in your DAW. This has nothing to do with your interfaces, or the drivers, or your setup.... or aliens. Just create a mono track in your DAW and record one channel to it. That's all.

Now back to our regularly scheduled alien invasion.....

(Henry, that's your cue!!!)

So stereo recording is not a possibility with my Saffire Pro 24?

Well sure, you can record stereo with your saffire, but not with one mic. If I understand you correctly, when you record with one mic, it only comes out one speaker and you want it to come out both, correct?
