Ok I have a session with let's say 8 tracks of different music. Monday I recorded all the tracks and saved the session and all the waves to it's own folder. Tuesday I come back to listen to the session and I decide to add some plate reverb to the vocals. I right click on the vocal track and go to edit view and find a reverb that I like and I add it in. I go back to multi-track view and it sound good. I hit file save all and close the session. On Wednesday I come back and open the session again and upon listening to the session decide that I don't like the reverb that I added on Tuesday. I try go back and do an undo on the reverb butttttt it won't let me. Undo disabled.

Now if I would have went back in on Tuesday right after I added the reverb I could have used undo and removed the reverb.

So, after I hit the Save All on Tuesday the reverb I put on the Vocal Track was set in stone?

Should I be making a separate copy of the session folder in a dry format just for this reason?

Thanks!

You should try making use of CEP's ability to do effects in real-time in multi-track view. When you want to put some reverb on a track, just click the little FX button for that track and add a reverb effect. As oppossed to making changes in Edit View, this doesn't actually alter the .wav file, even when you save the session, so it can always be undone. This also gives you greater flexibility with things like using an envelop to control the wet/dry mix on a track.

The disadvantage is that the effect is processed while playing back, so too many effects on too many tracks and your processer won't be able to keep up any more.

Whenever I start to experience playback problems when adding FX to a session, I'll use Edit View to make a permanent change, but I always save it as a different .wav. A lot of times when I'm done with a project I'll have a folder full of files such as "Bob Vox.wav", "Bob Vox - Cmpss.wav", and "Bob Vox - Cmpss - Verb.wav". :) It's always a good idea to leave yourself a way to go back.

Yea the real time effects thing in multi track view is a little too much for my poor processor.. But I get what you are saying.

Thanks for the quick reply!
