hi Froot,
In a practical sense?....sp2 will give you additional USB 2.0 connectivity,
(and sometimes a requirement for some audio devices).
...should you want to use a particular USB device for any audio?????

And better internet protection; but you're not on the net with this machine...so..really, liitle else (Others may post some improvements?)

You won't ruin anything...so if you have the updated disc/connection for sp2, go for it!

(please note: sp2 update from Microsoft, via an internet connection with anything other than the original windows XP may 'ruin' your OS, with warnings and crap)..just thought I'd add that in there for you!!
Not suggesting anyting either...just helping!! :)

Kindest Regards,
Superspit.

USB 2.0 is native to Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP 1. The only USB-related change in XP SP2 is an additional registry key which allows you to treat USB block-storage devices as readonly.

I too built a DAW on XP SP1 and have never updated. All my other computers are kept updated. As long as it is not exposed to the internet, you will be fine.
