I am looking for a very stable sequencer for live use. I have an alesis mmt-8, it's great and everything, but I feel that there is a lot of repetition for complicated songs, it is a lot of work.

I think I would really prefer a more visual sequencer--in fact, it would be great if I could do my sequencing on my computer(say fruityloops), and dump the midi to my sequencer so that I can take it on the road.

It also should have some ability for some live improvisation.

Money is not really a factor, however, I am not looking to spend a grand.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

- Frank

You could maybe check out Ableton Live. I don't have any real experience of it, but a friend uses it to sample live material and then loop it back into the performance. He's never mentioned it crashing.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with the sequencer...

I am mostly using it to sequencer my samplers. I write the songs on my computer, but for live performances I don't want to lug my computer around.

Is the mc-500 mkII able to accept midi dumps from a computer sequencing program? is any hardware sequencer able to do that?

Yes, the roland can. Don't know about ANY sequencer, though.
