Looking for feedback on this mix. Already know the vocals are aren't stellar. Is the snare too overbearing? How does the acoustic guit sound?

Thanks for listening.

Good day fellow pirate! Based on your avatar anyway ;)
Typing as listening... the acoustic and percussion in the intro sound nice to these ears. The bass really fills up the tune when it enters too. Fits well.
I'm no singer, but the vocals sound fine to me. Good volume and I can understand everything you're saying.
On the break for the solo where you're not singing I think a harmonica would sound great there... or even some whistling. Something extra there could add to the song...
Nice laid back consistent vibe here, can't help much with the mix since it sounded good to me on my home speakers, just enjoyed the listens :)

Thanks much for the feedback, SnakeDog. Yeah, pirate at heart. Waiting til the kids are a little older then we cut the dock lines and go cruisin for a few years. Belize is definitely on the list of places to visit. That's what made your song stand out.

I didn't think about any fill in that particular part. Good idea, I'll see what I can come up with. Glad to hear vocals came across okay. I really suck at singing and it takes a lot of work (read:takes).

Anyone else with feedback? Thanks

Vocals seem to come across well on my phones...good singing. Snare doesn't seem to be overbearing, but maybe drums could use a bit of compression overall....something just makes them not quite fit right.
Song is pretty fun, so mess with it some more, until you're happy with it. Fun listen.

Hey Dogman, thanks for the comments. (Love your avatars - btw :D) I used ezdrummer, maybe that's why it doesn't seem to fit. I think I have a touch of reverb on the snare, but that's it. I'll go back and add compression. But I have a question with that.

Each mic in ezdrummer runs to its own track in cubase. Should I group them to one bus and add compression there or to each individual track??

Thanks again.....

Awesome, yeah Belize and its Caribbean islands around were quite an experience... brought out the pirate in me pretty easily :D More than worth the trip, I'll probably remember those days forever.. they have a rich pirate history too because of their 2nd largest barrier reef in the world making it easy to trap ships.. anyway...just wanted to say that based on your comments I think you're a better singer than you think. Don't be afraid to mess around with vocals, sound good and fun to me and Dogmaster dogman. Cheers and AARRGGH :D;)

Thanks again, SnakeDog. Yeah, guess I just never thought that I could sing. I mean, I hear myself when I playback a take, I know what bad can be. Kind of weird when someone says it's not bad. Of course, my wife says that all the time, but she gets paid to say that. :D

We're not sure when we're going to go, but the basic plan is to cruise the caribbean for a year and spend some time in Colombia (wife's home-country). Then over to the med for a year. I've spent plenty of time over there on one of Uncle Sam's nuclear yachts. Now I'd like to go back and do it on my time.

Cheers

The drum pattern is fighting with the rhythm guitar a bit. Maybe that's what Dogman was referring to. I'd maybe try a different pattern, it seems a bit stiff...and too busy rolls at times...

Now besides that, the rest of the song is mixed well, very easy to listen to.

Super catchy tune.....I get a really good vibe from it.

Your vocals are fine - I can see your concern because they are way up there in the range - but you hit the notes nicely....

:D
