i understand that this mic was designed for micing guitar cabs, but how do you think they would perform on regular guitar amps? i own a Line 6 Spider II 112 and i'm thinking about buying that microphone tomorrow.

thank you very much i am going to drive an hour away tomorrow to buy it, but keep the post coming if its not too much trouble

What's the difference between a guitar amp and a guitar cab?

What he means is like a combo amp. I think micing just the amp would be kinda hard unless ya wanted to pick up some electronic hum in the mic. Might sound cool.

But really, there is really no difference between micing a cab and micing a combo. You should be able to get a good result with the e609.

Yeap, that's how I understood it too.

Obviously. I was questioning why he was even asking this question. There is no practical difference between a guitar amp where the cabinet is integrated and one where it is separate. You're mic'ing the speaker. That's all that matters.

ok i've got the mic.. it sounds pretty good.. i put the mic right on the grill.. somebody suggested to place it a foot away from the amp. anyone else have any suggestions?

i am trying to get a sound distinguishable from when i record using direct.. my line 6 has a direct out, and it sounds almost the same as when i mic it. maybe im doing something wrong.
