tex - Actually i didnt intend to keep it a secret but no one would believe me that this truly was an incredible mic for the money

(like i said before, maybe its because my post number isnt past a thousand?). But then soon after telling people i decided that maybe it was to my advantage that no body knew about it

. Its also cool that we feel the same way about the mics characteristics which doesnt happen very often. Like i mentioned before, you can really EQ the heck out of it without loosing its tightness, which really gives you alot of options for color. There was one time i even put like 16dbs gain in the 4-6k region to give it a certain color i was hearing in my head, just tons of attack, then i compressed it back down and it gave an awesome sound without loosing tightness. Of course on the other hand you dont need to do that for it to cut the mix but its cool that you can.
Rimshot - Honestly, the reason why ive craved the mic soo much is because it really doesnt sound like any of those mics. If anything it sounds more like a 421 with bigger bottom. The bottom on this thing is very tight with punch...but yet...mellow. I dunno how to explain it. Its an awesome sound though.
Ive found it to be extremely versatile. I did a Jazz set with it a while ago and it worked perfect for the round tone. Ive done alot of rock genres that it works well with also, and being able to EQ so nicely makes it even more versatile.
I might really be hyping this mic too much right now, its just that ive loved it so much. Im sure there are definately mics that are better than the like the RE20, and even using combinations. But for $200 i would chose a 602 over a 114 any day (especially since im so sick of hearing the damn 114 on everything i hear, and i personally dont like the basketball sound it gives)
