Good post yo, it was taking me forever to post a sample..............
For the record, all music does not sound right screwed.........I heard Ushers "Let it burn" and I thought it was off da hook and Biggies "One more Chance" was ill too. Plus you have to realize, music chopped & screwed hits you differently when your nice on something. (Please don't run out and get something to get nice on for the sake of screw music. ALthough I know some people are looking for another excuse, and some still don't need one.LOL

I received a copy of a DJ Screw mixtape about a year or two ago.

I thought that it very interesting.

I figured that it eventually be the next "new" thing.

It is not my "forte", but I LOVE the creativeness.

Yanno what I think the problem with screw is? People think they can chop and screw ANYTHING and make it sound good. IMO some shit was not made to be screwed with.

Artists (IMO) that are perfect for screwed and chopped music...other than some of the obvious ones you would think of.

...and just a lot of others who deliver their lyrics around that same speed.


I heard some artists like Mystikal, Crucial Conflict, and Twista chopped and screwed and it never did sound right to me (although a couple of Bone songs came out okay).






But I will say it is more than just screwing and then chopping....you have to know where good chops will be at in order to make the song not sound retarded (like it's just skipping and shit).

I love the chopped an screwed hooks, but when you take a hit and then slow down the whole thing, it really just takes away from the song. slowed hooks are the best. samples and things...

I'm down for anything as long as it's DONE RIGHT which is often not the case for a lot of things...but screwed can be pretty dope for hooks.
