Most of the time when I get an idea for a cool riff I record it onto my computer. Once there I fiddle around with it a bit and save it as a real audio. Well to get the sound to the computer I connect an adapter to the line-out. I then plug a phono cord into that adapter. At the end of one of the channels I use an adapter to change the phono to 1/4. I then plug that into a pre-amp which I run my guitar through. I set the line-in for play and record in my mixer control for my SB AWE-64. Then I just record. But I just can't get any volume. Even with the guitar all the way up and the pre-amp all the way up I do not get very much volume. When I do have all these things up I get distortion. Why? Is it because I have an SB? (You all just love them) But I did find a cure for the problem. I record it at a low level and amplify it within Cool Edit. But is the distortion a result of the many adapters? The cables? The pre-amp (Its not mine)? Or just the SB?
