We're looking into it. Just wanted to get some input if there were any users on here that I don't know about.

Thanks,
H2H

you might wanna talk to sjoko about it, he seems to think its superior to protools, and i'd trust his opinion;)

I have used both demos on a PC and they run smoothly. I found these programs through a friend who uses SAW Pro for all of his audio and synchs it with cakewalk. Hes couldnt be happier. Well if the program was cheaper I guess hed be a little happier but thats the way it is. IQsoft has a ton of tutorials on their site - http://iqsoft.com/ - for both SAW Pro and SAW Studio so you can get to know quite a bit of the possibilities.

I have been using Saw since it was a 4 track system. Currently there is nothing on the market that even comes close to Saw. The only option that is missing is the "Import OMF File". If Saw had this option it would turn the proffessional AV industry upside down. As far as comparing it to Pro Tools....Pro Tools feels like toy compared to Saw. Anything that can be done in Protools can be done in Saw..only faster and better! Plus you don't need any propriertary hardware to get going.

thanks for the responses all. Maybe sjoko will drop by, too. We are almost a definate on getting SAW Studio. We're just contemplating whether to get lite or the full thing. For those using it, do you use digital mixers, and if so, which ones? We are looking between the Soundcraft digital mixer, the Yamaha 02R, and the Mackie D8B. Not sure yet which is the best for our money.

Thanks again,
H2H

I'm also a long time SAW user currently using SAWStudio.

Go for it. You will not be sorry!

And it wonderful to see so many SAW users here.

Personally I really liked the demo but there is no way i could afford the outlay for the better version that do everything equivalent to Cubase 5 32 which I currently use. That is a shame because I think IQS ( SAW is written by one person so i have heard!!) could steel a LOT of users away form other systems. It is a really easy to use yet stable AND powerful system.

I;ve played with it some, but not much... seems VERY stable, but I think its ugly. I like cosmetics, too ;)

Yeah as I said in a previous post the IQS site talks about the "3D Rendered interface". Did I miss something but it looks like a DOS game!:D

sorry to bump this one more time, fellas.

I just wanted to check one more time for users of the program. I think the new SAW Studio is a fine looking product myself, especially when run on dual screens, like I will be using it. I just wanted to see if anyone had anything else to say before I drop $2,500 on the full version of this program next week. You can be sure you will get full reviews from me to anyone who is interested. We are also having a PC custom built. Dual PIII(With the fastest P3's we can find) and 1G RAM into a rackmount case with 2 IBM HD's in removable bays. It will be a screamer for sure.

Anyhoo, any more comments before I drop the buck? :)

Hard2Hear,

Just want to let you and everyone else know that IQS has implemented a nice payment plan option. Also, the upgrade path is a nice one. If you can't afford the full package now, going with Studio Lite and upgrading later is a nice way to go. Studio Lite may be all most people need anyway.

Your system sounds like a screamer. And with Studio its gonna rock.

Which soundcard system are you going with?

We are either going with the Hammerfall card or the MOTU card. Not quite sure yet, as it kind of depends on the console we end up going with. It is leaning more and more toward the Soundcraft 328 digital board....in fact, we're thinking about buying 2 of them and slaving them together. That is why we are buying the full version, so that we can use all the channels together if we wanted to.

One thing I think we ARE going to do, though, is purchase Saw Pro for $500 first...and then go back and save $900 on the upgrade to Saw Studio. Seems like an easy way to save $400, and also have the older version, in case we would ever want to play with it. Everything seems like there is nothing to stop us from doing this. But either way, I am working with about $15,000 to upgrade my studio, so if all fits in the budget! :)

If you are thinking of using the MOTU 2408 system. Forget it. I know no one who has gotten the PCI-324 card to work with a dual CPU system. I use the converters with a Hammerfall now. And highly recommend it. No problems and great support.

Angie, thanks for the heads up. We were leaning toward the Hammerfall anyways, but now it's a lock. I am now looking foreward to getting everything together. By the way, do you know where I could find a list of templates for all of the consoles that are supported by SAW? I know there is a Soundcraft 328 template, but I don't know what else.

Thanks,
H2H

Templates available now are:
CM Motor Mix
Fostex VM200
Korg 168RC
Ramsa DA7
Spirit 328
Tascam TM-D1000
Yamaha 03D, ProMix 01, ProMix 01V
General Midi

Support for others is easy to obtain. All Bob needs is a midi dump and you'll have the template in a matter of days.

Questions on the IQS forum are always welcome and most of the time answered by Bob himself.

hey

Im gettin one too. hey Angie -- what's your hardware config, if you don't mind my askin?

Jerry,

The studio machine is:
Asus CUV4X-D mainboard with dual PIII- 1Gig CPUs and 1Gig RAM
Matrox G400 dual display card running two flat panel displays
RME Hammerfall 9652 in/out of two MOTU 2408 converters

I have a slower single CPU machine that's used for remote recording also.

H2H,

I was just at the IQS site tonite, and it seems they're going out of business. Maybe you know this, but if not I thought I should give you a heads up!

Yes, IQS as we know it is no more. All products previous to SAWStudio are no longer supported. All indications are that SAWStudio will continue in some form. The SAWStudio website (www.sawstudio.com) is still available. There has been much speculation about what happened and what the future will be. But there has been no official word yet. We are all trying to be patient. When I do get the official, I'll post it here.

Angie
