Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew if Samsons's DMS80 Desktop Monitor System was any good for a decent cheap monitoring system. I'm kind of nit-picky about mixing (which I've never done before) but I'll settle for them if it's decent. Also does anyone know if they're magnetically shielded?

FYI, I got a pair of passive Tannoy Reveals but I have to return them due to the fact that getting an amp would just be too much money (not to mention I dont have space for the stuff). I hope I'm making the right decision.

Thanks,
Beef

hmmm...

How can you be picky about mixing and yet satisfy yourself with a cheap monitoring system? It makes no sense to shell out money NOW for garbage, only to have to buy more gear later because the results don't measure up - you're better off saving a bit and buying once and being happy with the result, than continually cross-checking yourself after mixing on crap...

My 2 cents...

Well, the recommendations here usually go with "set your budget, and buy what sounds best for that budget".

If Bruce says the DMS80 sucks (and he seems to say that) it probably does. Personally I'm very sceptical to something that claims to be a studio monitoring system and has a 5-band EQ... That just seems kinda fishy, right?
