Does it worth to by a harware sampler nowadays?
The price diference is huge!!!

I cant really say with absolute certainty because I have never owned a hardware sampler however I would be of the opinion that these days everything is going the way of software so no, hardware samplers are too costly now compared to thier software counterparts which can do everythign they can if not better.

Hardware samplers are good though if you will ever be playign live. I make industrial rock type of music with a firend and we are wondering how the heck we are going to play our stuff live as we have used so much studio software processing!

A lot of people use Gigasampler and I was very impressed with the Steinberg Halion when I saw it at a demonstration evening.

Thanks Alchemist3k, and the emagic EXS24? Anyone use it?

Keep in mind that a software sampler requires a lot of power from your computer.

From Bruce Richardson's review at ProRec.com:

"The bottom line is this: If you are currently a working GigaSampler user, GigaStudio is an upgrade you've got to get. It's pennies on the dollar. If you are a person looking to buy a "first" sampler, then forget about hardware and RAM-based models. GigaStudio costs the same, and delivers exponentially more bang for your buck. As processors approach and pass the GHz barrier, and hard drives get faster by the week, it will only become more obvious.

No matter how large or complex your operation or task, GigaStudio is a scalable solution to your sampling needs that will beat anything you could possibly be using. It excels beyond all other sampling environments in sonic performance, technical integration, and cost-effectiveness. For serious sampling, GigaStudio is simply the one and only choice."
