Rock Steady
I was over at the local music shop setting a bass up for a friend and a car pulled up out front. I could see that there was a big 2x15 speaker cabinet in the back. After he came in, I walked outside for smoke and noticed that it had big diamond upholstery with little chrome buttons on it in the middle of each diamond. I looked at the bottom and it had metal slat bracing all the way across the bottom for both sets of wheels. It was in really good shape. After I went in I asked the kid if that was a Ryder cabinet. He said that he found it in a pawn shop a few months before and picked it up for guitar. He let me check it out and it was one of the Two cabinets that came with a hand made Ryder amp that had belonged to a friend of mine in 1965 (that sold me his Moserite walnut and maple semi hollowbody bass with dual humbuckers). He didnt know where the head and other cabinet was. The head was about the size of two bassmans tall and had a chrome plate on the front where the knobs were mounted. The Fender Super Showman couldn't touch it for power and clarity. Anyways, I told him I wanted it and he is going to think about it for a while. Back during that time I was just learning how to play and Ryder and West amps were the gift from God himself for bass. Anybody ever hear do them?
