Running my practice guitar amp into my tascam 008

I'm trying to record....aren't we all....my electric guitar. I run an input from the 'phones' output on my little Silvertone, to my input A on my tascam. I get nothing. Is what I am doing illegal?

Yes, it's illegal and the police will be there momentarily to haul you away!

I suspect its how you adapted from your amp's stereo headphone jack to the mono input jack on the recorder.

Thanks for the response -illegal seemed to fit Now I have a point of departure for my problem. I will try something else to overcome this problem.
