Yo, shouldn't there be a sample kit or a sound kit to download for everyone to use?

I mean, if everyone is using the same samples, we'll get 10 different beats from the same samples or sounds. It's easy to judge a beat battle that way. If you're all just submitting beats with whatever sounds you want, it really comes down to opinion on what each person likes...

Just a suggestion.

Agreed........

Yeah that makes sense...I'm not participating but in all honesty if one guy has limited sounds and the other has tons of them, who's probably going to make the better beat?

Also, you may want to find out what resources people are using and then maybe categorize based on that. Like you have a lot of people who use Reason or Fruityloops...so make a section strictly for people who use that and have samples for those sections. Then you have people who mainly use hardware....make a section for that. That way it's as fair as possible.

Fie.

Exactly. The suggestions above would make alot more sense than peope just submitting random beats. If everyone has the same samples, people will be forced to use creativity to make it sound better or different from the other contestants. I wanna be in this but the rules got to be better than that cuz!

When I first started asking about a tournament I didn't intend on being the one organizing the thing. This is exactly what I needed from you, suggestions. If anyone wants to provide a soundkit then thats great. If no one wants to participate because of lack of gear I understand that too.It was just supposed to be friendly competition. If you lose then you know what to do and what to get next time around.I don't have much at all as you all can tell in my tracks.Just fun people.

Hey reek, you gettin mad? No hate intended. Just being honest as usual :)
If i had good organizing skills, i would help you out but i suck at that kind of stuff.

I would organize but, I'm heading out of the country for a week to do some shows in Canada. So I won't be around.

I just wanted to see some head up competition it would've been interesting to see what all our preferences were.It could let each other know how we were progressing and just be fun to see who was top dog this time around.I get a kick out of critizism cus it makes me do better the next time around.

Hold up wait a minute!
Look this the first tourney we hosting here so some better organization will definately be needed. We got a nice lil community here built up and for our first toourney to be some half ass stuff will only serve to draw flies and give us a negative image. Yall been to those weak ass tourney sites where they dont have they ish together. they look like trash. my suggestion if you gone do it take the time to set it up right then step back into it to do it. Personally i dont havethe time to run I did this before on another site some time ago....dont much have a taste for running them any more.

I vote for a postponing this until we can get serious about it, collectively...

Doesn't seem like we'd accomplish anything positive, at this point...

Can someone come up with a sound set?We also need a list of potential participants.I need help from everyone on this.I'll try my best.

I'll support ya (any way possible).. I'm not the person for sound sets though.. :p Have you heard my stuff?

IMO I think the best prize that would suit all participants would be a .wav drumkit since everybody doesn't use soundfonts or reason refills. But then again for people who solely use hardware (that can't import wav files into the mix, that might not be a good idea either).

It's a start though.

I say get your participants and what gear they will use in order (make a list of it if you need to), then work the prize around that list.

Fiev.
