Hello,

I've got a Roland RS-5 synth hooked up to my Windows 7 64bit PC. This is a new thing for me, but I've been using Mixcraft to record with it. I had never used MIDI on it before, mostly just using line-out through my mixer to record built in sounds. Now I'm trying to use it as a controller. I have it hooked up via USB, and the notes play fine. If I play a single note and release, it goes NOTE OFF fine. However, if I play a triad or any type of chord, some of the notes will keep playing after I release. I downloaded MIDI-OX and took a look. It appears that instead of sending NOTE OFF when I release a chord, it sends NOTE OFF for the first note released, and NOTE ON for the other notes in the chord! Any ideas?
Here's a screenshot of MIDI-OX showing the problem

That's weird --- and it's a serious problem.

You've done the right thing and downloaded midi-ox - your next step is to reinitalize the keyboard, which shouldn't be too much of a problem because it doesn't sound like you've done much programming that you want to keep. If you have your manual the reinit instructions are in Chapter 9 - if not it's available from Rolands website - just google 'Roland RS-5'.

The RS-5 a keyboard that's getting older - you might want to check the internal battery and replace it if neccessary. That might solve the 'note off' problem.

If none of this works, post again. I may have some more ideas for you to try...
