RPC-1 card works good if you're using ASIO drivers or running win98. I assume you would be using it with the VM-3100. Definitely not recommended if your software doesn't support ASIO & you want to run 2000 or xp. I had loads of problems with mine on these os's using Vegas. I have no experience with the 1010, but there's tons of info on that one here if you do a search.
I beleive the only sound cards that use the R-bus connection are the RPC-1 & the M-Audio Rbus card. These cards are very similar & both made by Midiman. I think the Rbus has a few more inputs (SPDIF maybe?). Look it up on midiman.com.
