Hey, this is a pretty rough mix on a new song im working on. I can't actually work on it for a few days so I figured id get some mix suggestions. I know theres a few things I want to probably fix, but I figured some opinions couldn't hurt.

The songs "Obey" its up at

Thanks alot in advance

Nice sounds. The guitar tone is cool, and fits what you do very well. I like the vocals. Just enough grit. Vocals seem a bit hidden, but the music is loud. You might need to drop the music volume a bit, or do some eq work to cut some space for the vocals. I can hear them, but something is hiding some of the depth of them. Might be teh guitar, but not sure. Anyway, cool tune. I like this stuff. NIN, Manson, and Godflesh, all sort of combined. Cool tune.

Freaky intro, love the groove you have going with that beat.
Again, cool sounding vocals. Good layering on the chorus, especially the last one.
I think a louder more pulsating bass would sound cool, just sounds a bit low on my system now.
The part at 3:00 rocks. I like how you always have some powerchord rockout section. Overall after listening to several of your songs your songwriting impresses me.
For the 3:00 I'd suggest another electric playing the root note along with the power chord an octave higher too, I found that sounds cool sometimes. Just a thought.
Cool stuff ;)

hey thanks alot those are great suggestions, I don't usually post things in such a rough state but maybe I should.

Dogman - Yeah my industiral sort of roots always come out even when I try not too. I agree on the vocals for sure, I lent alot of gear to a friend for the week so im kind of itching to finish it.

Snakedog - I agree with the bass I can't ever get a decent bass tone (might have something to do with my actual bass). I was thinking about picking up a SansAmp bass driver for some help. Also good ideas on the guitar part towards the end. Thanks alot man.

i really dug the intro ..im listening on computer speakers..

NIN-ish sound which i personally dig .
the little breakdown part around 2:00 works really well too .

holy shit i offered nothing helpful ...lol...

ok heres this ...how in the hell do you play something like this live???? :D

edit * i listened to "really" as well ..is all this just you ?...

Hey Jamal thanks for the listens. Yeah its all just me, about 6 months ago my band broke up and instead of branching into another I just decided to do the solo thing (much easier from my angle). I got a band I play live with but im looking for something more permanent.

Thanks again

thats EXACTLY how i started out..i didi everything myself ,guitars , drums , sang, you know what ??..that way you dont have any arguments about how things should sound..lol...man i liked that ...now i have a band ..and initially it was great cause we played all my songs ..now we are writing new stuff together..and MAN is that fucking harder.. :o

anyway ..yeah im no recording engineer so my :critiques: tend to be more on over all sound and style ..and i liked it there wasnt anything i heard that made me go ..."wtf was THAT?".....lol..it sonically sounded really good

Thats funny thats pretty much spot on. I recently was working with someone else writing songs and we were good friends and decided if we wanted to stay friends we'd do our own things. But yeah in reality when mixing all im really hoping for is no "oh what the hell was that" moments. Do you post any stuff in the clinic or have anything to listen to? With my schedule I sometimes find it hard to keep track of what i want to check out in here, i miss a ton it seems.

Take care

i used to ...i got a little record deal (boutique) label .and had to pull all my stuff offline..our album is coming out in the spring i think .

Cool intro with the altered drumset (think that's what it is :D ) When the bass, drums and gtr come in it works. Personally, I'd like the vocals a dB or so higher maybe, and with a little less 4-6 kHz in them... they're a bit sibilant. Excellent guitar sounds.

I don't know about those guitars. They sound good, but in the verse, they sound like the microphone was placed inside a coffee can or something. There's this really funky sound in there. Maybe it's because it's 128. I'd like to hear it in 192. I like the percussion a lot. Fits really well with the song. Vocals are great. I like all of the layering of the harmonies. Very cool sounding. By the way, I can totally relate to the whole one-man-band thing. The same goddamn thing happened to me. It's very rare that I like to make music with other people anymore. Only unless I find someone who completely understands what I'm doing. I hate it when people try to change the way you sound.

Good work!
