anyone have any good things to say about wet/dry rooms to mike in?

i've had to improvise based on the houses i've lived in.
i used to try to set my amps (guitar) with tones/levels that would resonate in hard woods, to take advantage of natural resonance. sometimes i would hang dampening materials on the walls.

i've been going with a dry carpet-room sound for a long time, no noticable reflection from walls (small room, plenty of furniture and gear/instruments to absorb reflection). it's reliable, but could potentially get sterile.

i know considerations are similar with drum miking...

just thought i'd get everyone's take on acoustics, home or otherwise
