very nice tune...not sure if im experienced enough to give much of a critique except i'd lift the vocals up a little and EQ some highs on the djembe's (if thats what drums those were) as they sounded a wee bit muffled..

guitar(s) were cool.....

like for vocals? I know I suck but I'm working with what I got and if I can mask it up I can be just like Justin Tinberlake.

can I get some advice on what I can do besides shooting myself or learning how to sing?

Well the production sounds good but IMHO, I would like to hear the song without the bongo's.

Hey,

I can hear the genre/sound you are going for. I think you just need to consider the following things:

- timing. There were a few places where the bonjos and guitar were out of time. Maybe re-recording one or the other would fix this. Are the instruments all tracked in the same session?

- The reverb is very inconsistent. I don't really know how to describe it, but some instruments sound as if they have different verb plugins/effects on them. Maybe its my ears.

- The bonjos need work. I dont know what though... maybe panning/double recording. Something to spread their stereo image a bit.


Overall I think I hear what your getting at. Its 60% there, just needs a few tweaks. Keep it up, I would enjoy hearing the next mix.

No - please keep the bongos they make the song what it is Just need wider panning/double recording I think. Do you use a stereo pair mic's to record them?

Vocals I cannot comment on, because I thought they were fine Myspace ruins the sound quality a bit (pure mp3 on a website will be better). Its hard to say whether the vocals need more highs because the song is on myspace, but for now I think they are ok.

no it's really just one tiny congo drum I bought in Mexico a long time ago recorded with a baby bottle condenser and it's on a stereo track

are the vocals flat or sharp? maybe I'll try to mellodyne some of it
