Rolls direct box

Has anyone ever used a Rolls Red square direct box?

I need something to split the signal for my bass and this thing will do it and is supposed to have a by-passable *sonic exciter* that is supposed to define the signal somewhat.

I don't really like too many effects, but the box has a 1/4 in, and a XLR and 1/4 out which is what I need.

Anyone have experience with these, or have any recommendations?

Every Rolls product I've ever come across is pure junk. I see no reason why this would be any different.....

Rolls is about 4-5 notches below Behringer on the quality scale.

And a berhinger DI is only $35 and (sans effects), has everything you mentioned. I have one myself and it does what I need it to do.
