which sequencer is better?
I'm leaning towards the Roland because it seems that they have more sounds with all the Expansion boards. But If I go Roland I dont know If I should get the XP-80 or XP-60. I dont know if payin an extra 400 bucks for the XP 80 is worth it if the XP-60 can basically do the same thing. Does the XP-80 have any significant features that are not on the XP-60? And what would be the advantage of going with Alesis. I heard that they have the best grand piano sound, but im pretty sure Roland has more overall sounds. And the Alesis Q8.1 i believe costs less than the Roland XP-80. HELP PLEASE!!, If it would help you advise me better, I'm going to be using a computer,so That may affect the desicion, thanks.

Hey, Hey, Jay:

I'd forget the Alesis keyboard. Small screen and not much real quality. If you can go to a dealer and listen, and get some DEMOS, that would help you decide. I bought an Alesis as a second keyboard and sold it about three months later - it couldn't compare with my Yamaha DX-7 which took be three years to learn how to operate at about a 88% level of understanding.

As mentioned, I had trouble reading the screen, A TINY SCREEN, on the Alesis Q-model I had - I guess Roland has some good products out there on keys, as well as recorders, but listening will help you decide. And, before you buy, check all of the 800 numbers for prices at the various big music distributors: Sweetwater, Full Compass, Musician's Friend, etc.

The advantage of buying at a local dealer is that you can always go back for more instruction but the price will probably be more than via mail.

Happy Keyboarding,
