I have a Roland VS-840EX and have just decided to try and put some of my music repertoire to CD form in my computer. However, I'm digitally illiterate and have not had much success even though I have the owner's manual. I must not be setting it up right. Can someone assist me with proper diagrams, etc. to keep me from getting frustrated and selling the Roland?

If I remember correctly, the VS-840ex has the 100mb zip drive. It should also have a feature to convert your mixes to a BR8(?) format. If so, there is a program you can find that you load on your computer and it will change the BR8 format to a .wav file. Then you can continue to mix in your computer, burn to CD, etc. To transfer from the VS-840, you would need to buy a zip drive for your computer.

The other way is to mixdown in your VS-840 then transfer through the stereo outs of the VS to an interface on your computer. You can find a decent two channel interface for about $100.

If my memory is failing or it just doesn't work, you can always check out the

www.vsplanet.com website. You should be able to get a more complete answer.

Cheers,

Oh btw, I had the vs-840GX and I hated it. I switched to Cubase and have never looked back. I don't even want the tunes I have on all those zip drives.
