Roland vd-2480

Hello,
I have a roland vs-2480 but now i want to have more input channels
i am looking for a ADA-7000 but i can't find it
who can help me for more input channels

I also use a 2480. What do you need past the 16 available channels? I have done hundreds of live recordings on the thing and I find a little sub-mixer can be very helpful when 16 channels just won't hold it. What is the project and what are the tracks involved?

I have a band with 15 trompets and trombones so I have only 1 chanel left for the drums and i want to have 4 or 5 chanels for the drums
 
The ADA-7000's are very elusive these days...

Other input options would be a DIF-AT or DIF-AT24 (harder to find) paired with an ADAT capable pre. Behringer's ADA-8000 is a nice match here.

Or, you can still find Roland SI-24 or VM-3100 Pro mixers that allow you to add up to 8 more inputs via your RBus port.

You're mic'ing each brass instrument individually? Why not have them blow at a couple room mics?

I was thinking that the bleed alone would cancel out the individual close micing... Unless there's some serious ISO going on :)

Exactly. Even somebody with unlimited recording tracks probably wouldn't record 15 close mic'd brass instruments. Put them in logical groupings and go about 3 to a mic.

I am recording from a live preformance and the brass instruments have each an clip microphone so i can mix them at home sperate
 
will it actually record 16 or more tracks at once? look into it... i used to use an 1880 and you could only record 6 tracks at once... (even though it had 8 ins.) anyways... i agree with the other guy... 16 ins is plenty.

Just because they have it does not mean you have to use it. Trust me, with large horn sections you do not want individual tracks of each. They play together. They know how to balance each other out. You don't have to have absolute mix control over them. Even at a large studio with oodles of tracks, individual tracks are most likely not the best way to do 15 live horns.

Yeah. The 2480 does 16 at once out of the box.

werk je nog steeds met de VS 2480? Ik doe dat ook al meer dan 10 jaar. Ik ben op zoek naar iemand, die ook dit fantastische apparaat gebruikt. Ik ben ervan overtuigd, dat ik nog steeds niet alle mogeljkheden gebruik. Uitwisseling van info lijkt mij een goed idee. Wat vind je ervan?
