I am in desperate need of some help with my Roland JV1010.

I haven't used it for 2 years and am in the process of setting my studio back up. I have the CDRom that came with it, but it is frankly hopeless in terms of re-acquainting myself with the damned thing.

I literally just want to access all the banks available (will try getting my head around editing sounds later on!) and cannot for the life of me get my head around it.

I remember each 'bank' came with circa 16 different sounds, eg Organ = hammond, wurly, rhodes etc etc....I also remember that the Rhythm sets are stored in a different area/bank?? Am using it with a StudioLogic 760 keyboard. Be extremely grateful if someone could talk me through it!

HERE'S a link to the owners manual.

I own a JV1010, but to be honest, I never used it beyond playing a single sound at a time and it's been sitting idle for quite a long time now.

If you're trying to use it multi-timbrally, good luck. The JV1010 is legendary (as is much of Roland's gear) for being extremely difficult to operate. The manual is confusing and I know I was never able to use it beyond the basics. Also, don't attempt to use the Sound Diver editing software that came with it. It doesn't work.

The sounds themselves are pretty good, however.

Thanks for the advice Ted.

I actually just want to remind myself how the hell you navigate your way around the banks. I only want to play one sound at a time - ie not get into editing sounds etc..

It may sound ridiculous, but I can't remember how to access all the banks, ie which setting it needs to be on. From memory (and please bear with me on this..) I used to have it on 'Perform' setting when linked up to Logic on my Mac which then allowed me to scroll through the banks (on the RH knob) and get all the different piano/organ/bass etc.. sounds). Can't seem to work it out though now. And I can't access the rhythm sets that I know were there before.

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous but as I said the manual doesn't explain this AT ALL and much as I could sit there fiddling for a while and hopefully work it out, there is no guarantee that I will be accessing ALL sounds correctly.

Very much appreciate if you can help any further

Andrea

Hey, thanks very much for the tip on using my own module (how embarrassing!)

Am going to try it out in a little while.

May be worth saying though, that I am currently looking into buying some other equipment and depending on how much that is going to cost, may be selling the JV1010. Are you still looking to buy one?
