Ok, I am focking back. After 4 long months of un-employement here in Munich, I finally got a damn job. And to top it off I got a DAMN GREAT job. I earn over twice the money from my last job. I have to go through a 2 month INTENSIVE AS HELL training program flying all over Europe to do so, but it is interesting as hell.
ANYWAY..... I have taken a leave of absence from home recording because I simply had no more money to afford the toys I wanted/needed. But now I am back with a brand new bank account and I am looking to go on a spree. (well kind of).
So I pulled out my Roland JV 1010 and my 2x2 Midi interface, and started up my Logic Audio Platinum software and decided to refrech my Midi sequencing knowledge. Well I remembered with full on force that I never really got the completel hang of it in the first place.
Now my problem is.......
How in the hell do I get the Roland to play the same sound that I recorded it on?
So far, I have for example.... recorded the drums on Channel 10 (of course) and the bass guitar parts on Midi channel 1, and done any extra, violin type, sounds on channels 3 and 4. Each time, with the exception for the drums sounds, I have just literally flipped through the patches until I found a sound that "sounded like the bass guitar sound I wanted" or whatever sound I was looking for.
Anyway, I then record a 250 measure song and edit it, add the Midi effects (reverb chorus etc..) that are possible with the Logic GM Mixer, quantisize it here and there, blah blah blah... then SAVE it.
Then the next day, I come back and turn it all back on, then OPEN the song I recorded the previous day and hit play to hear my masterpiece.... and the bass guitar is now a steel drum, and the violins are a helicopter, but the drums always stay DRUMS exyctly as I recorded them. WHY??????????????????
And of course I didn't write down which patches I used, so i have to flip through again and try to find something else that kind of sounded like yesterday.... sometimes never finding it again at all. In the Audio Logic Manuel it says..... "blah blah blah and now notice that when you change the patches in the software the number canges on your sound module." Well that doesn't happen at all with me.
Honestly I would pay someone if they would just send me an e-mail with their phone number in it so I could CALL them and have them walk me through this thing. I am sure it would take all of 5 minutes to figure out. But after 6 months of owning and completely throwing everything I have into this software and sound module.... I still have NO IDEA how to make it work together. UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, thanks guys,
Mike
