Doing some microphone comparisons. The vocal clips are unprocessed - nothing except the raw vocal track. Rode NTK and M-Audio Sputnik.
Download here until the 27th of March... 45MB so it's a big zip file but it's .wav for quality.

It's a Zip file containing minute long clips...background music and vocal clips...MIC_TEST_ZIP_FILE.zip
I recorded them through a mixer (no HPF, Flat EQ, 0 Gain) and interface (gain at 12:00 oclock) and then just through my interface (same gain). The Rode was a tiny bit quieter so I upped the gain (about 10 minutes) to even them out. I recorded the two microphones at the same time. So NTK_1 is same take as SPUTNIK_1 for example...
Two different songs about a minute long clips (Intro/Verse/Chorus) I left the intro empty space on them so they will line up if you want to load them n a DAW.
HB_MIC_TEST_MUSIC.wav (background music with no vocals)
HB_MIC_TEST_NTK_1_U42S.wav (Rode NTK -> Lexicon U42S Interface -> Sonar 6.0)
HB_MIC_TEST_NTK_2_U42S.wav (Rode NTK -> Lexicon U42S Interface V2 -> Sonar)
HB_MIC_TEST_NTK_3_ALESIS.wav (Rode NTK -> Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0 Mixer -> Lexicon U42S Interface -> Sonar)
HB_MIC_TEST_SPUTNIK_1_U42S.wav (Sputnik -> Lexicon U42S Interface -> Sonar)
HB_MIC_TEST_SPUTNIK_2_U42S.wav (Sputnik -> Lexicon U42S Interface V2 -> Sonar)
HB_MIC_TEST_SPUTNIK_3_ALESIS.wav (Sputnik -> Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0 Mixer -
> Lexicon U42S Interface -> Sonar)
Song #2 - Same tests.

Hope this gives you some idea how each of these sound in case you're considering either (and mixer/interface).
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on these mics....
