I just bought it based on reviews I read giving it 8.5-9 rating on many sites,
but I must say that after recording dome vocals with it it seems that it has biting highs at about 1K-2K... an I missing anything ? Doesn't sound so good as they all say at all to my ears.

This Chart might be of use to you. The NT1000 is not on there (but the NTK is and there is some mention of the NT1000 in the thread), but Rode condensers are notoriously bright. Sometimes that's what you need for the voice, but sometimes a bright mic can sound harsh.

rodes are not that bad.... other mics at their price point are often brighter (with exception)
but if it's not the proper mic for you, nothing can really be done about it.

(ironically, you may want to sing into it a bit off axis....... this may help)

I use mine for acoustic instruments, and it works really well. I occasionally find the male vocalist with a voice that suits it, but it's still a great instrument mic.

I had a Rode NT1-A for a while and had the same experience. It seemed like it was distorting on the high end because it was so bright. And I was recording fairly dark, felt pick acoustic guitar at the time...

I got an AKG C2000 right after that, which I found much better. Darker, more neutral.

Of course, I sold that too, because I have a microphone addiction...

in my opinion, the nt1A is a flaming piece of crap.
if you can swing the nt2a however, it kicks ass.

I have a NT1000, and I don't consider it overly bright. Sure, it may be a little bit, but I have never had a problem with it. Maybe I just got lucky. :D

Thanks,

I may have to experiment with it more, but somehow I got the feeling that I'll like AKG's better (or either they will like my voice better ;) )

Somehow it sounds too me too harsh on the "ssss" "shhhh" "tzzzzzz" and all those types of sounds.

BTW, how would you compare the any of the NT2A and NT1A with the NT1000 (soundwise) ?
