I buried my question in the recently dusted off RODE thread. Maybe I should drag it out into the sunshine....

I was interested in hearing what people thought of the difference bewteen the NTK and the Clasic II. I really like what the NTK does for my voice. Looking towards the CLassic II, I see a NOS approach that may well sound quite a bit sweeter. Or not. In the months that I was mulling that question, RODE has put out some new designs. The Classic II is still the flagship tube RODE (and I am wondering if anyone has done a side-by-side comparison with it and the NTK.) But now I see the K2 being offered. Anyone had a chance to compare with the NTK? In short, I like what the NTK offers. And I want more of it. Should I upgrade?

Thanks for any thoughts on the question!

..I too am a satisfied NTK owner, and have recently been considering the K2...there's an interesting review of the NT2-A in this month's Electronic Musician...the reviewer had previously reviewed the NT2000 (and it's worth reading because he compares the K2 to the NT2000 in the earlier review): http://emusician.com/mics/emusic_rdent/
...in the current review he draws a comparison between the NT2000 and NT2-A along with the K2, since all three mics share the same capsule design and really represent a new generation of Rode mics (the NTK shares an earlier Rode capsule design with the NT1000)...he gives all three mics high marks...the other review you should read is the one below (if you haven't already read it) since it describes the lineage from the NTK to the K2...check it out:
