rockwool electrically conductive

is'nt this stuff made out of slag? i would assume that it is conductive, if it is made of slag.

I don't know what slag is? I read that rockwool is made out of molten stone spun into thin wires and then pressed together. Stone isn't conductive is it?

i read that it is made out of slag, i biproduct of welding.

it's probably more like molten slag, which is rock like but metal. i don't think you can form wire from stone.

If I'm not mistaken, slag is the byproduct residue of manufacturing iron or steel. It is not metal.

Rockwool is definatelly not made of metal. The way it is made is like this. There's a big, cold, round, metal spinning disk, on which drops molten stone (lava if you will) are dropped. Because of the spinning of the disk, the drops get thrown through the air, but cool off at the same time, turning into tiny wires. These are then pressed together to form rockwool.
