Rock song.

This is my new band i put together.
Heresa single off our demo i just finished.
I just noticed the fade out at the end of the chorus is a little abrupt, so ill be fixing that tommorow.

Anything else i missed?

i mean the vocals before they properly come in. im not too keen on that effect whatever is it. the rest are good, the singer has a nice voice.

Chris, nice sounds right from the start. Guitar is sweet!!! Love the tone. Vocals are cool. The way they came in is great. Song built up nicely. Killer vocals. Bass sounds a bit buried, but I'm listening on a pc, with just a decent sound system, so that may be at my end.

Anyway, great tune.

Kick seems pretty weak. It's got the click but no real meat. I like the guitar tone and the riff is pretty damn cool. Yep, the fade.

Ok ill look into that.
I was having a slight issue with the 'whump" that youll get from palm muted guitar playing, it was rattling the speakers.
And of course the bass player wanted to be louder to add to the issue.

So i balanced those out.

In the mastering stage i may have lopped off too much low end i think i went up to 55-60 hz, which of course is where the kick is.

God i hate mastering my own mixes.
I cant afford to send it to someone right now though....

I personally think you've done something that most bands miss. Does anyone rember the word.....DYNAMICS??

I love the Dynamics of the vocals going from distant to in your face. Just my opinion. It really is a nice touch and makes me want to listen more.

The only other thing and its just personal preference. I think guitar could have its gain or distortion cut back a little to make it fit in the mix a little better. again this is from listening to it on a state issued computer terminal, with just one built in speaker. :confused:

Great song, recording and mix. The guitar is fantastic and the singer is great. The effects on the vocals is surprising the first time you listen to the song but the second time it's perfect.

Man im glad you noticed about the dynamics, thats a big deal to me.
I want it to feel like it does when we practice the song.
About the guitar tone, i can see your point.
Ill try that next time.
Thats usually what i do when tracking other guitarists is back the gain off a bit.
My amp has sort of a dirty sound at almost any stage though.

Well, since you asked (although I feel out of place commenting on your mixes - they blow mine away) -

The comments about the kick are right on IMO - there is no "meat". Same with the snare - I think a lot of this has to do with the guitars being so big. They sound great - powerful - I think they are making the drums and vox sound kinda weak. Maybe a bit thicker verb on the main vox to add some power/thickness to it?

The issues I hear are fairly minor tho, It really sounds good!

Ok, im going back to remix, now that im listening...youre right theres no meat in the kick and snare man...what the fuck was i thinking......i swear for all this cool gear i got i still i kinda suck.

Oh well, just keep crackin' away at it right? :)

Finster, this is getting ridiculous. Everything you put your hand in seems to come out amazing. I've got nothing to add from a technical standpoint...only that the song is just as incredible as everything else I've heard you do. Those vocals are sweet as hell.
