the mix sounds well done. Good job

Of course, there are some nitpicks.

The drumset is a little too ambient. Maybe some more direct sound.

The singer has a good voice, but the mic is not the right one. I am suspecting tlm103 or rode ntk. They are too detailed and the esses sound very solidstate.

Other than this, I would say the mix is pretty good, in a project studio way.

Funk on!

I listened to the other song and preffered the guitar sound and the vocal was not as edgey. great.

hey thanks for the listen and thoughts.

im the singer...actually im everything. its more of a solo project than a "band". everything is done by me.

i think i know what u mean with the mic. its a MXL V67 and then a cheap ART tube pre-amp. i used N-track to record it. and thats pretty much it. not too bad for a total cost of like $200.

anyway, thanks for the input!

I like this tune, the intro definitely reminded me of my high school days with Green Day, but the song developes into something totally different from them, which is good.

The mix sounds good to me, but the hard panned background vocals, piano and etc kinda got me distracted. Very good job

Cool vocal tune with a really good melody.Considering the gear you used you did a great job.

On to "This Isn't Farewell".This is a nice tune also. The drums could stand to be a tad drier all the way up to the section where the distorted guitars come in at 2:18 and then let them wail like cannons.I like the harmony vocals on this one also.Yeah, cool tune.

You have a couple of nice tunes there geek.:D

I listened to "This Isn't Farewell". Good tune. I'm not sure about the heavy guitar. There's something going on that makes a feel loose (it sounds to me like possibly it was double tracked with too much reverb on it). The arrangement works for me if there's a way to get the guitar tighter, more "in your face" and focused.
Good job.

hmm thanks for the insight. there are actually quite a few guitars going on during that heavy part...cause i wanted to make it as full as possible. in doing so, i might have lost some tightness like you said. i need to find a better balance i suppose. :) thanks for pointing it out.

anyone else, what??:p

actually, there are some things about this song that are OK, I suppose, but I'm in a mood ...early morning now...etc...ya know...pre-waffles... reading a post with the author begging....c'mon now...is that what you want to do??....

I really can't deal with the vocals.....to sappy sounding....I'd flip the channel immediately...but I'm already typing so I might as well continue.

when the brash guitars come in, there is just a wash of sound, that is undefined, and that covers up a lot of stuff in your mix.

I'm having a hard time finding things to say in a good light...mainly because the song is relying on the writing, composition and arranging...to be a good song,...because there are no musical gems in the playing, the recording is average for home done, and the singing is on the opposite side of the spectrum with what I can deal with... Plus, the reverb on and off on the lead vocals is too artificial.

I liked the intro guitars, but when the singing came in, it went downhill fast for me.... sorry
:(

hey, well thanks for the listen and input regardless of whether you liked it or not. i will definately have things to fix in the mix thanks to you all. :)

Beautiful as today
Nice full sound, I like the voice quality and the two guitars panned to each side. At the end with the instrument and drum looping - thought my record player was stuck (oh, I guess that's probably before your time. :)) I would cut it and end the song on a fade before it.

I haven't listened to the other yet - it's a long download on my dial-up.

This isn't farewell
The two voices panned left and right is distracting - why "two" singers? Also as mixmkr mentioned, the reverb on and off distracts from the continuity and sounds artificial.

The heavy distortion guitar ending doesn't really fit with the more "clean" quality of the rest of the song and intrudes and overwhelmes the rest of the mix.

The instrumental break could use some kind of solo.

Nice levels in the mix for most of the song though (thru cans). Nice song.

first tune:

I like guitar sound, guitars are also in tune which is great :).

Ok, is it me or the voice is flat through the whole song. i dunno.
may be that's what mixmkr ment by "sappy sounding". Sorry it just sounds bad to me.

The mix is ok IMHO. The panned guitars could come down just a bit for me.

second tune:
Vocal sounds better intonation wise but still some ???. I was ok with the ending, actualy it's not realy ending yet there is more then a minute left, so it works for me. But the sound is no good or maybe not right one. I think I can hear what you are trying to do there. Just keep expirimenting with different guitar sound. Like mixmkr said not focused.

nice tunes
cheers

i liked the song, although there could be little improvements in the recording, it's all good =]
