Roberta - Then and Now

I've been going through a lot of my old mixes and remixing them lately. With this case, it's a song I recorded back in 2005. Since then, my mixing techniques has changed and I have applied them to this song. I'm posting links for the old version and the new version for comparison purposes. Please critique my mix(es). I'd like to know what you think about the changes and if anything still needs some tweaking to become more "listenable". Thanks for your time.

Hey stat1stick, I see you're in Union Gap. I'm from Yakima originally......ntmu neighbor! Great cut man, The new mix appears to be a bit louder, I thought it was a nice touch to have the output rolled down like in the old mix. The lead vocals in the new mix sound smooth! They especially gel and provide a nice counterpart to the dirty and dry guitar in the intro. Make sure to post when you get it all ironed out!

Definitely a lot more midrange in the new mix. Because of the particular "clean" guitar tone (sounds like an a.m. radio) it's sort of harsher to me, but in general, I'd say you have a lot more definition throughout the mix. There are parts that are in the 2nd mix that I didn't even notice in the first mix until I heard them in the 2nd.

There's still something honky about the 2nd mix, though...like it's just cutting my face, lol. I wish I could describe it better. Something in the upper mids that's attacking the listener. It's even in the drums.
