I just bought an RNC and I'm trying to hook it up to my mackie dfx 12 mixer. The RNC manual says that "hooking up the RNC to balanced lines with TRS 1/4" plugs will not work! If the equipment you are connecting the RNC to is balanced, you must first unbalance it and only connect into the RNC with TS 1/4" plugs". How do I know if my mixer is balanced or unbalanced, and what does balanced and unbalanced mean anyways? And how could I go about unbalancing somthing?
Ive plugged a bass guitar into the RNC left input and directing the left output to one of my mixer channel inputs while turning the knobs to different positions on the RNC without getting a noticable difference in sound quality. Should I be plugging the RNC into the Aux send and returns?
Sorry about the newbie nature of this question but im kinda stuck.

You need to get your bass up to line level before putting it through the RNC will make a difference. Does your mixer have inserts?

yeah it has inserts

Use 'em. Take a 1/4" TRS cable and go from the Insert into the IN on the RNC. It will work with just that one cable per channel.

RNC?

So how is the RNC working?
Have you had other compressors to compare it too?

I'm thinking of getting one, as my 3630 is being dissed soooo much (and I never have known anything else)....

daaang...
