RMGI moves to France

Hm, innnnnnnteresting....I guess we'll see whether this is a peak or dip in the roller coaster that is modern tape production.....
 
Interesting development. It's always been my gut feeling that the whole tape thing was beyond RMGI and they could never quite get it right. I’ve been waiting for them to drop out and give someone else a chance. I didn’t expect it to work out quite like this however. Sounds like they’re basically outsourcing to someone that knows what they’re doing… hopefully.
 
The good news is that pyral used to make tape back in the day and were a part of BASF until the early 2000’s. Probably more importantly they seem to have a handle on the whole magnetic tape thing from related specialty products they still produce. They have a good rep for what they do.

Plus the French have really impressed me lately. The French Air Force was the first to go into Libya and the Ivory Coast bombing the hell out of Forces loyal to Ivory Coast's Laurent Gbagbo and completely obliterating his air force. This is like Israeli style kicking ass and taking names... so this has to be really good tape IMO. I’m eating French-fries again.
 
Does this mean, though, that there will be manufacturing glitches once again once they're manufacturing in the new facility?

Any color is fine, as long as they print the formulation number on the back of the tape, though some here would like to see it made in purple.

See what I mean... and I bet it won't be Israel or the US that bombs Iran's nuclear facilities when that needs to happen. It'll be France. This is reason enough for me to give RMGI another try once it's all being made and controlled in France.

Pyral were making Zonal tape at one point, or so I've heard. It wouldn't surprise me if they were the manufacturer Zonal are using now. They should know what they're doing.

I got a couple questions for anyone who maybe able to help;

1.) For real??? Colored tape? Has that been confirmed from Pyral/ where did you get that picture?

2.) Any idea when I can order some of this newly manufactured French tape??

Sorry to get off track, But How times have changed, Iran wants to set up nuclear facilities, France and the US will stop them? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, read your history, here and here. Back when this testing was happening the people of Oz were protesting and calling for it to stop (it was in our backyard) and France gave the big finger, in fact Oz boycotted all French products until it stopped.

While I don't want Iran to have nuclear anything, the US and France should have a good look at themselves.

Apologies, that was just me messing about.
Any new quality tape production, even in plain oxide reddish brown, will be welcome enough I'm sure.

Haha, okay no problem. Just wanna get my story straight here :guitar:

But has anyone heard of when they will actually be selling this new tape? I'm looking to order 5 reels or so, and I'd like to review this new stuff and report back to the forum
 
USRECORDING will be selling this newly manufactured tape according to there website.

Well, you are there in OZ and not speaking Japanese because of the US and because we have nukes, but never mind all that now because here's an even better reason to like France and things made in France. ;)
