Well-you guys are too cool-thanks for such a positive resonse-since I'm at work all night-I'll just ramble to each of you personally...
Powderfinger-Thanks for your time and compliments-as far the "rough sketch" thing-this is a "one take" mix-I hear little things I would like different eg; tightening the vocal harmonies-maybe a little verb on the snare-so thats what i meant-I ran this through wavelab-it sounded alot duller before-I'll prob spend a few days making it sound worse some time soon....
dtb-thanks-thats a larrive acoustic (not mine) mic'ed with an oktava mc012-it sounds a little thin to me in person but it records very well i think...Yeah and this isnt a "rough draft" I spent alot of time on this-parts recorded as our "studio" moved 3 times over the last 2 years..this was just a one off rough mix I happened to have with me today....
ChrisH-lol you crack me up man-thanks for your time again-and yeah this mutha turned out pretty big-I'm sure alot of people will never make it to the end cause its a bitch to stream--I sorta "mastered" this here at work on headphones in wavelab-eq'd and multiband compressed-the original was a good bit duller-I think I just got lucky this time-glad it works for you---Thanks for listening-and your usual rapier wit...oh and the chimes are...chimes-copy and pasted to 3 dirffernt tracks panned left center and right-so they sorta go across the mix.
Cranky!-thats what I love about this place-we both have tunes up so different from each other-yet we can bypass musical labels and appreciate the music...So you want the banjo louder ehh? When I get around to mixing this for real-I'll try to automate it so its louder during the verse and lower during the chorus-thats what I had in mind but using cakewalk and automation in the same sentence makes me break out in hives....
Participant-Nice james kirk imitation there...Thanks alot for listening bro-I respect your opinion alot-you give alot of great advice around here. Glad you picked up that guitar rythym-its one of those deceptively simple kind of things-I actually borrowed it from some african music I heard-mixed it with the velvet undergrounds "venus in furs" groove-and added in a little yes "starship trooper" on the chorus. Forgive me for I have sinned...
Toki-thanks man-thats a larrive acoustic mic'ed with an oktava mc012-nice guitar wish it were mine

-glad you liked it

-I need to add a jaw harp to the mix and it will be just about there.thanks for listening.
BSABB-Thanks for your time and comments-Your very generous with your time all over this clinic-Glad you think the mix is working-I'm going to automate that banjo to be louder during the verses-and softer during the chorus's-it's just low on huge list--got about 6-7 newer ones to finish first...No we didn't use that vocal thing-we almost always record vox with an akgc4000-->blue tube-->mixer and add effects later-we plan on using that digitech thing for live performance(If we ever play...)-I'll put "Love and War" back up when I'm happy with it-which im not at the moment...
Lt.BoB--Thanks for listening man-I appreciate your time and ears greatly-good call on the boxey vocals-they were recorded in a living room-and the natural room verb was really making its way to the recording-not in a good way...I may have over compensated with the tape sim effect or eq-I'll look into that for sure-thanks!
Emeric-Glad you checked it out-Thanks for the kind words-you know I like your stuff alot...Your right about the snare and tambourine-the tambo is like the loudest thing in the mix it seems-and it doesnt always hit exactly where it needs to-maybe ill slap some verb on it...thanks for your time.
Fenderlikin-Thanks homeboy! Hypnotic--I like that-actually the groove is taken from "venus In Furs" by the velvet underground--but who's ever heard of them?Dude! We're trying to get a bass player and get our act together-we've tried out a few but nothing too promising yet...know any real good bass players willing to play this crap?....didn't think so...we may do a trio acoustic thing-in Monroe(of all places) If we do I'll let you know--thanks for listening.
JamalBucket-LOL NICE NAME!! j/k kidding man-congrats to you daddy-o--No I dont sing--The singer did a great job on this I think-I really liked his lyrics too. Shit man you do great work on your own-your a top notch drummer, guitar player and singer and songwriter...anyway thanks for the nice comments-looking forward to your version of "mary had a little lamb" soon...
Jake---Thanks man-I really liked that tune you posted a month or 2 ago-looking forward to something from you soon.
