Bummer...I had a feeling he was going to go soon once they mentioned the stroke a few days ago :(

This caught me totally off guard last night, I didn't know about the stroke.:( He was such a crucial part of Sprinsteen's band, they will surely get a new sax player for the band-but no one can replace his presence and attitude!

Clarence was a legend and an all round talent hi will be messed.

Laughed my tits off at "ringo all starr band" tho... Surely the last person who should be in an all star band would be Ringo....

So many people bust Ringo's balls...and I've never understood it. Can you point to some sloppy drumming anywhere? My fave will always be Charlie Watts: he swings like no other and he and Keef can dig the deepest grooves. Ringo has always reminded me of Charlie. No flash; no 32 cymbals and 20 rototoms. Just a simple 5-7 piece kit. Charlie. Ringo. Bonzo. The three best in rock. Nothing against Neal Peart personally, but I dislike that busy style. The most important part of music is the space between the notes. Leave a few! Let us breathe. 'S why I hated Cream. Hey Ginger: STFU for a minute, boyo. Check out "Magical Mystery Tour" (the song, not the album) or side 2 of Abbey Road. 75% Ringo; the rest the fabulous rooms and boards at Abbey Road/EMI studio. Those funky old boards with the big black knobs are worth a fortune today, in any condition.

So what's the beef with Ringo? Macca, by all reports was a real arsehole...but a musical genius. Would he have put up with a crappy drummer? Not a chance.

RIP Big Man
