OK, before I forget, the song is called Riot (for now) and can be found at www.ampcast.com/jags !
Once again my production skills are getting better almost completely thanks to this site and I think this is probably my best first mix yet but I've reached the limit of my knowledge in terms of how it sounds.
It's pretty slow and centered around a repetitive rif/chord sequence in an almost trip hop way. It actually reminds me of Air more than anything else if only due to it's laid backness.
Jim Deacon electro acoustic provides the rhythm and bass again, and the elelctric riffs etc were all done through a zoom effects pedal and straight into the mic in of the soundcard. String effect done by putting my single sheap chit (
) mic on the speaker of an old casio keyboard. And the vocals have been treated with echo reverb, nothing else. If you listen through headphones you will hear crackling and a very quiet high pitched noise through the first line of the vocals which I put down to the pissy pre-amp at the mic in of the soundcard (thanks to a query here in the mic board). Thankfully it's not as noticeable for the rest of the vocals because of the increased backing. Unfortunately all of my songs have been tainted with a hiss (mic'ed tracks at least) which would be completely unbearable were it not for the instrumental backing masking it to some extent. You may hear the occasional 'ping' created by recording myself tapping a crystal glass with a knife and adding some reverb to make the ring more noticeable, nice change to a triangle
.
That's about it. Hope you enjoy. If you listen could you tell me if you can make out the lyrics... my brother says he can't but I can't tell cos I wrote and sang them.. not that it's too much of a problem in any case, is it?
Thanks

PS I've jammed these chords for over 20 minutes before with my ex band, thankfully this version clocks in at under 4 minutes, my shortest effort yet!
