Ringo's bass drum on Come Together +

Exactly. Duh. So if you had two mics to put on one kit, where would you put them? It would depend what kinda song, right? But for Beatles songs.

I would think overhead and bass drum. the kick is the only thing that doeent really sound right in an overhead.

PS: If you want a beatle-esque sound, tune a mix compressor for the snare. This they did really due to the regressive effects of LSD so it is not really in any book
Just out of interest, where did you come by this info ?
During their LSD period {1966~67} they still recorded on 4 track and although the band were always looking for new sounds, they relied on Geoff Emerick on the technical level and George Martin on the instrumental level {and to a lesser extent technically}, to achieve this, neither of whom were in any way associated with psychedelic drugs. And the drums were always bounced down with other instruments onto one track to open up the other tracks for overdubbing. That's partly why the Revolver ~ White album period are so revered by many who study recording practice, because they did so much with so little.
It was the engineer's use of compressors and limiters and stuffing the bass drum {plus Ringo using tea towels on the skins} that gave the drums their sound.

The official story may vary, but from what I have seen from for instance Paul McCartney, he has talked about LSD, cocaine, and even heroin sometimes, saying "he didn´t know what it was". Which says alot about the reckless athmosphere they were in. Which unfortunately is true in many parts of the "music industry". Also modelling industry.

Somewhat related:

You know when Kurt Cobain was a star, nobody said he was a herioin addict, and his "wife" a prostitute.

The loudness war argument actually is said to have started with their album "Nevermind". But people process things now, even louder, and sounds better.

Infact, they should be happy their album sold at all.

Point is "official information" written many places, by fans or official spokespersons may be formed in a way believed best for the viewer.

What if they said "Yellow Submarine" is a movie about LSD-vision from the point of a penis, and mostly is about recieving semen, and the most offensive of gay fetish symbolism, which they mistook for Hinduistic-like insights? (and probably "love")

Nobody says this.

Now try the compressor, and be a Beatle in one-two-three, as it is an instantly recognizable sound. And throw atleast one sitar in there.

And please do not do LSD and think this guy is real. Hinduism has roots in monotheism, but clearly this idolaterous image is conflict with "God has no partners by his side", which is fundamental monotheistic logic.

PBWY.

Do you ever make sense?

If you read the link he gives where he speaks of the regressive effects of LSD, you'll realize that his grasp of English is better than some of ours.
I think some people are too deep for their own good and go so deep they lose everyone else in the process. Over here, it's referred to as "being too far up one's backside". The trick is to show depth in a way that people, that don't want to work hard at deciphering, can easily grasp.
I don't think Ove manages this.

[h=2]Come Together[/h]
This was the campaign slogan of acid guru, Timothy Leary and he commissioned Lennon to write a song of this name for him. But Lennon couldn't write that kind of song to order in his new found Yoko inspired rebellion and came up instead with a piece that climaxed with a shout praising the joy of the simultaneous orgasm !
