Ribbon mic trouble

I have a pair of bayerdynamic M260 ribbon microphones both of these have torn foil. I opened both of these up today because I heard a ratting sound. I quickly fixed this but then noticed that that was only the tip of the iceberg. The Foil element is spit down the middle in both of em. can I replace it with this?http://www.audiocdmasters.com/ribbon.htm Or is this just expensive aluminum foil in a baggie? And will aluminum foil work?

Someone who knows the M260 will chime in, but is it possible it was designed that way? Anyway, $10 for that much ribbon material is painful given what it sells for in bulk ($25 for a 1ft2 sheet), and the hard part is corrugating which they haven't done for you. You cannot use regular aluminum foil, that is much much too thick.
