Hi All,
Sorry if this has been answered before. I did try a search. Anyhow...
Love my shinybox 23L but the preamps in my Korg D1600 don't have enough
gain( of course).
How would i best integrate a preamp in this setup? Should i get the majority
of my gain from the external preamp, and use as little as possible of the Korg's?
Is the rode D-power in line boost thingy an option, or is that going to reduce fidelity?
And one more question, this mic is pretty heavy. What kind of stands
work best. perhaps the same kind you might have used on an old rca
ribbon?
thanks

For a mic stand one of these will do you, its what I use with my shinybox 23: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Tama-MS205-Boom-Mic-Stand?sku=450200

As far as running a pre into your korg, you will go out of the pres 1/4" or XLR outs into one of your korgs LINE ins found on the 1/4" ins. That way your korg isn't using a mic gain stage in addition to your pres. So you will need a 1/4" to 1/4" balanced cable or a XLR male to 1/4" cable, depending on what pre you go with.

Ooops on that I ment XLR female to 1/4" cable, but I am sure you would/will figure out that on your own looking at the back of whatever pre you go with.

XLR Outs are male, XLR ins are female, funny how that works out isn't it.

You won't be able to apply effects if you go "line in"
If that's not a problem, good.
If it is, keep the Korg pres at no gain and let your other pre apply the gain, the noise will be unnoticeable for the most part
