biggest dissapointment ever. sorry just my opinion. the song that goes "true men don't, kill coyotes" was monumental at the time...then some time later came Under The Bridge...worst singing EVER. now, somehow, they are finding their/a new groove that doesn't completely suck.

haven't bought anything from them since BSSM....reckon I won't buy the new one either.

yeah that was a great cd. Their new cd is supposed to be more like their old stuff. They are supposedly taking a turn away from the mainstream sound of by the way

Stadium Arcadium is awsome. There are not many songs that warrent skipping. Just put on random and let it go.

Well since everyone knows I am bad person now from the previous thread, I guess I have nothing left to loose.

Here is my preview on this album.

Not as disapointing as the Tool album IMO. Infact I am quite happy with this one. There are a few things that kinda sound like previous riffs, but not like Vicarious did were it was 80% of one of the riffs was reused. Anyways, enough Tool bashing.

Considering there are shitload of songs on this, it ranges everywhere from simple acoustic diddies to punk to all out funk and even a few Pink Floyd spots. (I hate Pink Floyd btw...but as said, they are spots more-so than songs).

The stereo seperation is awsome. Put on head phones and check out "Storm in a Teacup". That into is why stereo was invented imo. Simple but effective.

The bass work is good on many songs. "Tell me Baby"....damn fine funk.

On "hump de Bump" I was about to expect a rendition of "Wooly Bully".

I would bash something about this album if I could but there are no obvious areas as I wasn't holding my hopes for this one like I was another album we all know I was a little disapointed over. ;) So I guess it makes it a pleasant surprise for me.

It has that 'feel' the last two albums had, so if you prefer the older stuff, there will be some, but about equal or more of the more recent. A very healthy dose of funk, but the more slow melodic breezy sound is very much dominating the areas that are not funk or rock, and sometimes in the same song.

FWIW I will buy this one so calm down.

sweet, i cant wait till i buy it....

im glad people like it. rhcp is such a developed band. they blend so well together to make one great sound. its awesome

Yeah, I have a bit of a soft spot for RHCP...even though I don't subscribe to everything they. I like a fair bit of the music. Give it Away and some of those BSSM song were awesome in their day.

I would say yes, they are washed up. I think the best record they ever made is One Hot Minute . THAT is a great record. Very ecclectic and inspired. I haven't heard them do anything nearly as good since then. Californication is okay...but it could've been better.

sir psycho sexy was great.
and one hot minute was a great cd, but i favor john frusciante over dave navarro

john frusciante

u ever listen to any of frusciantes solo albums? they are incredibly good

Sir Psycho is the ringtone on my cell! LOL!

I still listen to BSSM and One Hot Minute fairly often. I rarely listen to the others. I've been a Chili Peppers fan since Mother's Milk. I think One Hot Minute was awesome but alot of fans hate it. I thought Navarro was a good fit and there are several really good songs on that CD.

But I didn't realize the new one was already released. I'm going to go buy it tomorrow. Sweeeeet!! :D

Yep... and if you want to really hear what he can do on guitar, listen to his solo stuff. He likes to use chords with lots of intervals. I read an interview with him not too long ago that said he was going to writing more harmonically complicated stuff for the Chili Peppers (I'm assuming for the new album) because he has been keeping it simple and melodic for so long.

fuckin awesome, scottgman...
yeah one big mob has to be one of my favorite songs...
walkabout is also a great track off of one hot minute...
if u havent heard it already, listen to "ramparts" , number 8, on frusciantes album "to record only water for ten days"
it puts me in a trance... its great
also , there are a couple great tracks off of"niandra lades and usually just a tshrirt"...
you have to pick through a bit... he was having drug issues at the time of that cd...but it is genious

joh frusciante is the only guitarist for the red hoitt chili peppers. his solo work has inspired my life. respect in waves to them.
