RF noise or something else that's gone banana-wacky
I've been putting tracks down in my home studio for years now. Yesterday, while trying to put some lead guitar work down, I was plagued with RF noise (or something). The noise would change as I re-positioned my guitar, but was still very persistent. I am working in close proximity to everything (amps, rack, computer, monitor, wife, mother-in-law, etc.), however, never had this much trouble with noise. I have managed to track down the problem to my monitor. Everything quiets right down when I shut it off (kinda inconvenient for recording purposes, though). Shielding the guitar or monitor doesn't help. Is it time to trash the monitor and get a new one? Thanx, Tom.
