Hi!

I'm looking for either a reverb pedal or rack unit that can give extreme amounts of decay (as in enough to completely blend the sound into one undistinguishable tone). So far, I've been able to do what I want with plugins, but I need something to replicate the sound live. I'm assuming only digital gear can do this. As far as pedals go, i'm told the boss rv-2 is closest to long decays as any pedal. But if there is a relatively inexpensive (as in <200 on ebay) rack unit with over-the-top decay times i would be very curious to know what it is. Any suggestions???

Thanks,
Justin

I'd go to the Sound on Sound website www.sospubs.co.uk and read the reviews for the Roland SRV-3030 and SRV-330, Yamaha REV500, TC Electronic M-One, Lexicon MPX-500. If the maximum delays times aren't listed then the manufacturers websites might have that info.

Roland SRV-2000

Look for the Roland SRV-2000. Thye usually go for between $125 and $150 on eBay. Maximum decay time of 99 seconds and they still sound good.
Good luck,
Mark

Mix and match pedals works for me.

When I record I use a lot of ambient effects by doing a Reverb into a Delay into another Reverb. Or visa versa...Delay into Reverb into Delay. I have found that if I use something like a BigMuff so I can have lots of sustain, I get a very violin/cello vib out of it. Lots of whole notes with a few hammer ons or pull off work well. Taps too, but shredding gets messy with that much effect.

Yeah thats similar to what i do. Except I used cakewalk... I recorded a guitar track using very fast trill notes. Then I apply a really thick reverb and it blends all the real fast notes together to get an amazing string sound. I just need some hardware to get it done live. The SRV-2000 looks like a good choice.
