I have "ProTools Free" (fully functional but only 8 tracks). It doesn't have a built in reverb. It has delay, but it doesn't have any options that just sound like mild reverb. I'm trying to mix acoustic instruments and vocals, no midi. What can I do? -Dave

I think pro tools is now selling a reverb plug in that works with PT Free for about $60.

If you buy the CD-ROM for ProTools FREE ($10) you will get every effect ProTools LE comes with, including D-Verb (DigiDesign's own Reverb).

I did buy the CD. It has Audiosuite which includes "delay" but I can find no reverb or "D-verb". Where is it supposed to be? -Dave

I looked on the Digidesign site and found that "D-verb for ProTools Free" is a product they sell for $49. Not a bad price but I've spent all the money I can spend and I just need a temporary "fix" until I can buy some more stuff. (The money was not spent on PTF, it was on ADAT Connect $325).

I found a freeware reverb but I'm not sure how to install it. When I downloaded it, it was just a .DLL file. It's called Freeverb2. In the readme.txt it talks about VST and DirectX compatability. The ProTools stuff talks about RTAS and Audio Suite compatibility. Does this mean ProTools Free and Reverb2 are not compatible? And what is VST and DirectX? -Dave

Direct-X plug-ins only work for Direct-X compatable software. ProTools is not compatable with Direct-X. Cakewalk and E-Magic stuff are.

ProTools might be able to work with VST plug-ins. You will have to double check with that because I am NOT 100% sure on that. Digidesign should have compatablility posted on their site.
