Hi, now that i've read all of the bad things about the bbe sonic maximizer 882i and how i've recently purchased it. i am going to return it. what do you think i should buy with the money i get back... compressor, mic pre ....what?

oh yeah and please whatever you recommend ex. mic pre or compressor or whatever give me your advice on what brandname to buy maybe even tell me exactly what to buy

And the rest of your chain is......
And you are recording.......
And you want to sound like......

this is actually the first piece of of my rack so i dont have any other signals so far but i have the behringer mx3282a that goes to the lexicon omega and then that goes into my computer. me and my buddy are trying to get a stevie ray vaughn and jimi hendrix sound so were looking for a blues rock sound

hmmm, do you have monitors? If not, get those first. Then, get a new mic pre, assuming you have a decent mic. What mic are you using? M-AUDIO dmp3 is a pretty sweet preamp for the money.

I've got a BBE 882i and I love it. Put it after my modded MP-1 and before my Xpression, set the knobs at around 9 or 10 o'clock and it rocks. It definitely helps round out my sound.

What bad things did you hear?

You should try it out to see if you like it. I find them to be useful.

For live use, they're great. For recording, they can be a bit of a pain to mix and eq properly, since they're kinda designed to screw all of that up to begin with. If you play live quite a bit, then keep it.

One thing you learn quickly is don't rely on other's views until you have experienced it yourself. What sucks to them might sound killer to you.

Plug it in, play with the knobs and then make the judgement call yourself. Depending on what else is in your rig, I would suggest that you put it before any effects (delay, chorus) and after any distortion.

I would get a headphone amplifier before monitors. For tracking, they're indispensible.

and you gotta track something before you mix it, right? :)

Send me the money and I'll invest it for you! Within 15 years I can triple your money!!

Thanks Guys!

just to let you know i do all recording and no live stuff

oh yeah you guys tell me to get some headphones instead of monitors ...for now .. if i do should i hook them straight into the back of my computer?

yeah i have a mixer but i want to hear through them after for editing

Then send the output of the soundcard back up to the mixer...

Although I'd suggest monitors before a headphone amp... If your tracking one channel at a time you can monitor through the mixer headphone jack... and you really don't want to mix through headphones...
