I really dig the camaraderie you guys have going on here. The way you guys are working together reminds me of a song I wrote for my sister, as a Christmas present in 2006. She had 4 strokes in November 2006, and this song was a prayer for her. I needed drums programmed, and put the word out on a forum like this. My friend Alan Bridges came to the rescue, not only with drum programming, but also the opening riff on the guitar.
Later, I sent this song in as a demo to EMI records, and they immediately released it nationally. It's so funny, because it was never meant to be anything for public consumption. To top it off, I made a really bad boo boo in the mix. See if you can pick it out! :D

Peace!

Its a very nice song and very well done. The only "boo boo" I might hear is a bit of distortion on the guitars that may or may not be wanted.

You're a good singer, I like how melodic the verse and chorus both are. The recording sounds pretty professional, but I think the clean compressed rhythm guitar is up just a tad, and the chunking power chords are down in the mix just a tad. The lyrics are kind of typical for this genre, but it's delivered with conviction.

Nice,
James

Thanks David! That's not the boo boo I'm talking about... I'll wait n see ifn someone else picks it out before I give it away!

Thanks James! But, I can't take credit for that vocal... After I sent the demo to EMI, they came back and said they liked the song, but that the vocal was a bit rough. That was all I needed to hear! So, I know this 16 year old kid from a band I produce... sent him the song... next day he came and did this in 2 takes!

Peace!

Might the boo boo be the word "lead" at 2:43? Good song and message. Good recording, no nits at all.:):)

Nope... the boo boo comes at 3:46. Up until then, there is a double tracked sort of high register guitar part in the chorus. It gets dropped from the left side at 3:46. I meant to drop them both at 4:02 when the lead guitar comes in, but somehow I dropped the left side early! :p

Oh well... what can I say?

Real pro sounding - I can see why EMI would like this... I can hear the glitch you mentioned but might not have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. Two Thumbs way up sir....:D:):D:)

Well, I like the song, overall. A lot of Beloche in there, with a bit of Kutless thrown in, but without acoustic guitar. I would like to hear more of the vocals in proportion to the instruments. It's difficult to hear the background vocals, at all. The performance of the instruments is quite good. Very together. Well, except for the crazy guitar near the end. It was just too much.

It's funny ido, because I could hear something but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was, and I was under a deadline to mix the song. I was quite aggravated when I wasn't able to re-do the mix before they sent it out for duplication.... oh well!

Thanks Nick! Paul Baloche has had a huge influence on my songwriting, and entire ministry, so I'm flattered that you see his influence in the song. I've spent many hours "at his knee," so to speak. He has an awesome ministry, to say the least.
Ironically, that "crazy guitar" near the end is the last recorded performance I did before having reconstructive surgery on my wrist last year, after an automobile accident. I'll never be that player again, probably. Yep, it's kinda crazy, but I'm still glad I caught it on tape!

Peace!

Souvenirs before the reconstruction eh? Sounds like an album title.
The jangle guitar is nice - what gtr were you playing?
That's a real 80's ballad bass sound - works well!
The synchopation between the hard panned guitars works well too.
Good job.
Now, the big question - did it sell?

Next time I need an alblum title, I'm consulting you, Ray!
Those guitars are all Telecasters.
The bass sound was a modified Mesa Dual Rectifier patch on my Vox Tonelab, believe it or not!
Did it sell? That remains to be seen, really. I signed a contract for a "sampler" CD that was put out by Worship Together, which is sort of the umbrella that EMIs various labels market their worship related resources through ( www.worshiptogether.com ) EMI has exclusive rights to the publishing until July... so I guess if nothing happens before then, it's a dead issue really.

Peace!
